Naturally Colored Organic Cotton from the Peruvian Selva

It’s not often you find a range of clothes that feels as great as it looks. Ecozona apparel does just that.

Made from the purest organic Peruvian cotton and the softest Alpaca wool, this wearable collection for men, women and kids has all your basics: from cotton T’s and fleecy sweats, to playful romper-suits and snug cardies. The collection takes its hues from the textiles’ true pigmentation, ranging from white to shades of cream, brown, green and even mauve.

The fibers are obtained from rural artisan and Indian farmers using pre-Columbian techniques to grow naturally pigmented cotton plants in their small farmyard plots. The cotton is harvested manually, colors sorted entirely by hand, and the fiber mill-spun in small batches. No pesticides, herbicides, artificial growth regulators, defoliants or other agro-chemicals have been used to grow or color our products. Certified by Control Union G.O.T.S 004235 for the organic cotton fiber production and 005051 for the sustainable processing of these fibers into the finest ecological textiles.

Ecozona process nature colour Alpaca hairs which comes in an array of nine shades. At no time are chemical agents or other artificial means employed during the manufacturing process of the fibers. Similar to cashmere and mohair, the fibers of superfine alpaca are unusually soft but they produce a higher gloss, are lower of weight without matting or lint. Besides the ecological benefits, there are many good reasons for preferring the "fleece of the Gods", such as its waterresistant and hypoallergenic properties. This preference will not only contribute to the preservation of the alpaca population, but also to the betterment of the socio- economic conditions of the indigenous peoples of the highlands. As a Fair Trade initiative, this project rewards Andean pastoralists with equal prices for white and colored fibers, this latter often rejected by the industry, eroding the bio-diversity of the indigenous camelid populations. Their KhT Alpaca is the finest organic fiber in the Andes.

Ethic-Chic
Ecozona is all about fair-made and fair-trade clothing, all garments are untreated, chemical free and 100% Peruvian. The company pays Peruvian men and women equal salaries for growing and manually harvesting their cotton, and Andean Alpaca pastoralists are paid equal prices for both white and the less sought-after coloured wool. This also preserves the Alpaca population, ensuring each and every one of those furry-four-legged friends feels loved.
