Renewable Oil through Sapphire Energy
Sapphire
Energy Inc was founded by three friends, Jason Pyle, Kristina Burow and Nathaniel
David. The idea of Sapphire Energy came from one of their arguments about the
use of oil. They examined the situation from all aspects of their life, as
scientists, as business people, as Americans and obviously as responsible human
beings. From a scientist point of view, they realized that using corn – a very
slow growing plant- was a wasteful way to produce ethanol. When
they looked at it as a business person, they understood that government
subsidies were needed to decrease the cost of ethanol As an American, they were
concerned about
With
the help of Mike Mendez, a scientist who created Xenomouse and GVAX, Steve
Mayfield and Steve Briggs, both plant biologists, Sapphire Energy was launched
in May of 2007. Although a recently formed company, they have definitely come a
long way and worked diligently to make their promises come true.
Sapphire
Energy’s goal is to be the leading producer of renewable energy. They have
built a platform hat converts sunlight and CO2 renewable products
that others can use as alternative to fossil fuels and therefore decrease the
dangers that came with them. They produce their renewable gasoline from algae,
sunlight, CO2 and other photosynthetic microorganisms. This makes
their gasoline highly efficient because there is no need for food (such as
corn) and therefore there is no dependency for it. And because allo of their products
are equal to crude oil, they are well-suited with out everyday products, such
as cars and pipelines.
