Fiberactive Organics

Fiberactive Organics was created by Julie Mullin, an artist with a degree in Illustration and Graphic Design. She first started her company, then called Fiberactive Quilt Company, in 1993 but changed it to Fiberactive Organics in 2005, when she started using organic materials. Fiberactive Organics produces organic cotton sleepwear for women, casual women's clothing and accesories. They have aprons made out of organic cotton, tote bags ( some which are made from old jeans, others made from organic and recycled materials). They also offer hand dyed organic cotton fabric, ribbon, braid and sewing thread.

Fiberactive Organics have been featured on the Today show and in magazines such as Natural Home, Textile Intelligence, Quilt Maker, Vogue Sewing, Better Homes and Gardens Decorating, Sew News and Green Business Quarterly.

Aside from her ever growing business, Julie, along with her team who she calls her family, is dedicated to living a sustainable lifestyle. She says on her website; " My goal is to actually enhance our environment with the way we live. We are taking steps to get our home/business of the electrical grid, as soon as possible, we will transition to solar power. What little water we use comes from our well, captured rainwater and we collect the water that the air conditioner pulls out of the air. Fabric and batting scraps are used as nesting for chickens and rabbits. After the animals are finished with it, it becomes mulch, or goes in to the compost pile. We are not self- sustaining yet, but we are trying".
